AI photo detector

Check an image for embedded generation settings, AI workflow records and readable Content Credentials declarations. See the exact matching fields instead of an unsupported AI probability score.

How this AI image check works

Choose the original downloaded image if possible. The tool reads metadata, lists recognized generation or provenance fields, and shows the stored evidence. It never judges the image by its appearance.

Common AI tools and model traces

AUTOMATIC1111-compatible exports can retain steps, sampler and seed settings. ComfyUI files can contain a node workflow and checkpoint names, including Stable Diffusion, SDXL or FLUX models. OpenAI and Adobe Firefly can attach Content Credentials. Coverage depends on the export and surviving metadata.

Why no signature is inconclusive

Social platforms, screenshots, editing and format conversion can remove metadata. Some generators never write a supported record. A regular camera tag or an editor name does not prove human authorship. A filename or a model name mentioned inside a prompt is not used as an AI signature.

Content Credentials are not automatically an AI label

C2PA is also used by cameras and publishers. The tool distinguishes a credential container from an explicit trained-algorithmic-media declaration. Embedded claims are shown without validating their certificates, signatures, asset hashes or trust chain. Older ingredients can describe AI use in a file history.

Frequently asked questions

Can this prove that an image was made by AI?

No. It can reveal metadata that declares AI generation or editing. Metadata can be altered or forged, and a generation workflow does not prove how every part of the final image was made.

Does no matching AI metadata mean the photo is real?

No. The correct conclusion is unknown. Missing, stripped or unsupported metadata cannot establish that a photo came from a camera.

Does this detect invisible AI watermarks?

No. It does not read SynthID or other pixel-level watermarks, run a visual classifier, or contact a verification service. It checks embedded metadata only.

Can Photoshop metadata or a prompt trigger an AI result?

A generic Photoshop software tag or an AI model name in ordinary text is not enough. The checker looks for structured generation settings, known generative nodes, explicit software declarations or typed AI provenance declarations.

Which image formats are checked?

JPG, PNG and WebP receive the supported metadata-signature checks. TIFF, HEIC and AVIF have limited EXIF-only coverage and are marked incomplete. No remote manifests are fetched.
