How the free limit works
- Every photo you keep, trash or add to Favorites counts as one decision. The counter at the top of the feed shows how many are left.
- The count starts again at midnight, in your iPhone's time zone.
- Everything you reviewed stays saved when you reach the limit, so you continue where you stopped.
The app shows the price for your country, and any free trial, before you buy. You can cancel at any time in the Settings app.
When you reach the limit, the next swipe opens the PrunePic Pro screen. Close it and pick up again after midnight: photos you kept stay kept, and photos in the PrunePic Trash wait there until you empty it.
Some of my photos are missing
PrunePic only sees the photos iOS lets it see. If you chose to share only some photos when iOS asked for access, PrunePic shows those and nothing else, so most of your library seems to be missing.
To check, open PrunePic’s settings and look at Photo access. It says Full Access or Limited.
- To add a few photos, tap Manage Selection under Photo access and pick more.
- To show your whole library, open the Settings app, tap Apps, then PrunePic, then Photos, and choose Full Access.
Limited access works if you prefer it. PrunePic cleans the photos you selected, and you can add more at any time.
Photos stay blank or keep loading
Most of the time, a photo that loads slowly is a photo stored in iCloud. With iCloud Photos and Optimize iPhone Storage turned on, your iPhone keeps a small version of older photos and videos and downloads the full-size version when an app needs it. PrunePic shows the small version first and downloads the original, which can take a while for a long video on a slow connection.
If cards stay blank:
- Check that your iPhone is online. Photos stored only in iCloud cannot load without a connection.
- Swipe on and come back later. Your decisions are saved, so you lose nothing by moving to the next photo.
- Open the same photo in the Photos app. If it does not load there either, the download is the problem, not PrunePic.
- If only PrunePic shows the problem, email edouard.developer@gmail.com with your iPhone model and iOS version.
Your photos stay on your iPhone
PrunePic reviews, sorts and deletes your photos through Apple’s Photos framework, on your iPhone. There is no PrunePic server for photos: your photos and videos are never uploaded, and there is no account to create.
What you reviewed, what is in the PrunePic Trash and your cleanup stats are stored on your iPhone as well. If you delete the app, they are deleted with it.
The app does measure how it is used. Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel record events such as finishing onboarding, opening the plans screen or emptying the trash, and the Meta SDK measures which ads bring people to the app. None of these events include your photos or what is in them.
Why PrunePic asks for App Tracking permission: PrunePic runs ads to help people discover it, and tracking permission shows which ads work, so less is spent on the ones that do not. PrunePic works exactly the same if you tap Ask App Not to Track.
The privacy policy lists every service and the data each one receives.
Cancel, restore or redeem PrunePic Pro
PrunePic Pro is billed by Apple through your Apple Account.
- Cancel: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose PrunePic and tap Cancel Subscription. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
- Restore on a new iPhone: sign in with the same Apple Account, open PrunePic’s settings and tap Restore Purchases.
- Redeem an offer code: in PrunePic’s settings, tap Redeem Code, or redeem it on the App Store.
Refunds are handled by Apple. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Common questions
Where do photos go when I delete them in PrunePic?
Photos you swipe left wait in the PrunePic Trash. When you empty it and confirm, they move to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where iOS keeps them for 30 days before removing them for good.
How do I get back a photo I deleted by mistake?
If it is still in the PrunePic Trash, open the Trash and tap Put Back. If you already emptied the trash, open the Photos app, go to Collections, then Recently Deleted under Utilities, select the photo and tap Recover. This works for 30 days after deletion.
I deleted photos but my storage did not go down. Why?
Deleted items stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days and still count against your storage. Empty Recently Deleted in the Photos app to get the space back right away. With iCloud Photos and Optimize iPhone Storage turned on, some of the space was in iCloud rather than on your iPhone.
Does PrunePic work offline?
Yes, for everything stored on your iPhone. Photos and videos whose full-size version is only in iCloud need a connection to load, because they have to be downloaded first.
Does deleting PrunePic cancel my subscription?
No. Deleting the app does not cancel PrunePic Pro. Cancel it in the Settings app: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then PrunePic.
Can I use PrunePic without a subscription?
Yes. The free plan includes 10 decisions a day, where every photo you keep, trash or add to Favorites counts as one, plus the Random and Everything modes, the PrunePic Trash with Undo, widgets and insights for the last 30 days. The count resets at midnight.
