PNG to JPG converter
Drop PNG images below and download them as JPG, usually several times smaller, one by one or all at once in a zip. The conversion runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded, and it is free with no sign-up or limit.
How to convert PNG to JPG
- Add your images. Drag PNG files onto the box above, tap Choose files, or paste a screenshot from the clipboard.
- Pick the quality. 90% keeps screenshots and photos looking the same; 75% halves the size again for email.
- Download. Save each JPG with the button next to it, or tap Download all for a zip.
Files in another format are listed with a short reason and a link to the right converter, and the rest of the batch carries on.
What is a PNG file?
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless image format: every pixel is stored exactly, which is why screenshots, logos, charts and anything with text or sharp lines are saved as PNG. It also supports transparency. iPhones and Macs save every screenshot as PNG, and so do Windows and Android.
The price is size. A PNG photo is often five to ten times larger than the same photo as JPEG, because photos have far more detail than lossless compression can squeeze.
Why convert PNG to JPG?
Size, mostly. A screenshot or a photo saved as PNG is several times larger than the same picture as JPG, and the difference matters when an upload form has a limit, an email has twenty attachments or a page has to load fast. Some forms and older programs also accept JPG only. iPhone screenshots are a common case: iOS saves every screenshot as PNG, and sending a batch of them is easier as JPG.
Keep PNG when the image has transparency or when every pixel must stay exact, for a logo or a graphic you will edit again.
What the JPG keeps, and what it leaves out
- Kept: the full picture at its original size.
- Left out: transparency, which becomes white. The lossless exactness of PNG, too: JPG discards fine detail, invisible at 90% in photos, sometimes visible around small text at low quality.
- Size: expect the JPG to be three to ten times smaller than the PNG.

Your images stay on your device
The conversion is done by your browser's own image code: files are read from your disk, redrawn as JPG in memory and saved to your downloads folder. No server ever receives your files, and nothing is kept once you close the page. It is the same promise we make in our iPhone app, PrunePic: it reviews your photos on the iPhone itself and never uploads them.
Screenshots are the usual suspects
If you are converting screenshots to make them smaller, the screenshots still take the same space on the iPhone. PrunePic shows them one at a time so you can swipe away the ones you no longer need; the screenshot guide explains where iOS keeps them.

Frequently asked questions
Is the PNG to JPG converter free?
Yes, free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of images. It runs in your browser.
Does converting PNG to JPG lose quality?
A little: JPG is lossy. At 90% the loss is invisible on photos and screenshots; small text can soften at lower settings. The PNG itself is not changed.
What happens to transparency?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white. Keep the PNG, or use PNG to WebP, if you need them.
How much smaller will the JPG be?
Typically three to ten times smaller than the PNG, depending on the picture and the quality setting.
Can I convert many PNG files at once?
Yes. Drop as many as you like; Download all saves every JPG in one zip.
