Clear out old screenshots
Screenshots mode, part of PrunePic Pro, shows only your screenshots, one at a time: swipe left to delete one, up to keep it. Months of boarding passes, receipts and memes take a few minutes, and nothing is deleted until you empty the PrunePic Trash.
Why screenshots are the easiest place to start
Most screenshots have a short life. You took them to remember a code, show someone a message or save a route, and they stopped being useful the same day. Yet they stay in your library forever, mixed in with your real photos.
Because the decision is usually obvious, screenshots are the fastest category to clean. Many people clear hundreds in a single sitting.
How Screenshots mode works
- Open the cleaning mode sheet and choose Screenshots.
- Pick newest first or oldest first.
- Swipe left on the ones you no longer need, up on the ones to keep, and right on anything worth adding to Favorites.
Everything you swipe left waits in the PrunePic Trash, so you can check it before anything is deleted.
Screenshots worth keeping
Before you swipe them all away, look out for:
- tickets, confirmations and QR codes for upcoming trips or events
- receipts and warranties you may need to claim
- notes, recipes or instructions you have not saved anywhere else
Keep those with a swipe up. Better still, save them where they belong, such as a note or your Wallet, and then delete the screenshot.
Make it a habit
New screenshots arrive every day. A quick pass in Screenshots mode once a week keeps them from building up again. Your cleanup insights show how much space screenshots took compared with photos and videos.
Frequently asked questions
How do I see only screenshots on iPhone?
In the Photos app, open Collections, then Media Types, then Screenshots. In PrunePic, choose the Screenshots cleaning mode and the feed shows nothing else.
Can I delete all screenshots at once?
The Photos app lets you select all screenshots and delete them together, but you risk losing the ones you still need. PrunePic shows them one by one so you only delete what you choose, and keeps them in its trash until you confirm.
Where do deleted screenshots go?
To the PrunePic Trash first. When you empty it, they move to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where you can still recover them for 30 days.
