Track your cleanup progress
Insights show what your cleanup sessions add up to: how many photos and videos you deleted, the total size of what you deleted, and what is still in your library. The size is the weight of the deleted files, which is not always the space your iPhone gets back.
What you deleted, over time
Every time you empty the PrunePic Trash, PrunePic records how many items you deleted and their total file size. Insights turn that into a timeline, so you can see your cleanup day by day or month by month.
PrunePic also ranks media types by the size of what you deleted, which usually shows that a few videos weighed more than hundreds of photos.
What Saved Space means, and why Settings can show less
The insights screen calls the total Saved Space. It is the sum of the file sizes of everything you deleted, as reported by your photo library. It is not a measurement of the free space on your iPhone, and the two rarely match right away:
PrunePic shows
Size of deleted items
The total file size of every photo and video you deleted by emptying the PrunePic Trash.

Free space on the iPhone
What iOS measures as available right now, across everything on the phone.
- Recently Deleted still holds them. Deleted items keep using storage for up to 30 days, until you empty Recently Deleted.
- Only a small version was on the phone. With Optimize iPhone Storage, the original lives in iCloud. Deleting it frees iCloud space more than iPhone space.
- iOS updates the number later. iPhone Storage in Settings is recalculated in the background and can lag behind for a while.
To see what your iPhone really has free, open Settings › General › iPhone Storage. If the number barely moved after a big cleanup, empty Recently Deleted in the Photos app, then give iOS a few minutes. The iPhone storage full guide covers what else to check.
A snapshot of your library
Insights include a live count of what is in your library, broken down by media type: photos, videos, screenshots, Live Photos, portraits, selfies, panoramas, bursts, screen recordings, slo-mo, time-lapse, cinematic videos, spatial media and more. It is a quick way to find the category worth cleaning next.
On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, PrunePic writes a short cleanup tip based on that snapshot. The tip is generated on your device.
Badges for every milestone
Twenty cleanup badges mark your progress, from your first ten deleted items to a hundred gigabytes deleted. Every item you delete counts toward the next one.
From last month to the last three years
The free plan shows the last 30 days. With PrunePic Pro, pick the last 3 months, the last year or the last 3 years. Tracking starts with your first swipe, so your history is complete from day one. See your progress on the Home Screen with the Cleanup Progress widget.
Frequently asked questions
What does Saved Space measure in PrunePic?
The total file size of the photos and videos you deleted by emptying the PrunePic Trash. It is not a measurement of the free space on your iPhone, which iOS calculates separately in Settings › General › iPhone Storage.
Why did my iPhone Storage not go up by the amount PrunePic shows?
Usually for one of three reasons: deleted items stay in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days, with Optimize iPhone Storage most of each original was in iCloud rather than on the phone, and iOS recalculates iPhone Storage in the background, so it can lag behind.
How far back do insights go?
The free plan shows the last 30 days. PrunePic Pro adds the last 3 months, the last year and the last 3 years. Tracking starts with your first swipe either way, so the longer periods are complete when you unlock them.
Is my cleanup history sent anywhere?
No. Your review history and cleanup stats are stored on your device. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it.
