Turkey passport photo size

A Turkish passport or ID card photo is a biometric print of 50 × 60 mm on a white, pattern-free background, taken within the last 6 months. Tell the photographer not to cut it down to 35 × 45 mm: a photo of another size or background blocks the application. Export one print or a 4 × 6 in sheet.

Turkish biometric photo dimensions

The size is 50 mm by 60 mm, ICAO based, with the face centred and fully visible including the hairstyle. The civil registration directorate publishes no head-height or eye-line figure for this size; Turkish consulates quote the 70–80% rule only for 35 × 45 mm consular photos.

Why the size matters

A photo of another size or background blocks the application, or gets the card cancelled at quality control. One printed biometric photo is brought to the appointment; there is no citizen upload, and any photographer can take it.

Glasses and head coverings

Glasses are allowed without reflections on the lenses, coloured lenses or sunglasses; the frame must not cover the eyes or be thick enough to. No hats or headgear; a headscarf is allowed with the face visible from the chin to the forehead and no shadows on the face.

Image quality

Neutral colours reflecting the natural skin tone, good contrast, sharp, no stains or bends, no red-eye, even lighting without reflections or shadows, and eyes open looking directly at the camera. No other people or objects in children’s photos.

How to take a valid photo

The shared ICAO points first, then what this authority adds.

  • Have someone else take the photo at eye level from a few steps away; most authorities reject selfies.
  • Face the camera straight on with your head level, both eyes open, mouth closed and a neutral expression.
  • Light the face evenly: no shadows on the face or the background, no flash reflections, no red-eye.
  • Keep the photo as taken: no filters, retouching, background replacement or AI edits.
  • Only you in the frame, nothing covering the face, hair away from the eyes, no uniform.
  • Leave space around the head and shoulders so the crop can follow the guide.
  • Glasses are allowed without reflections, coloured lenses or sunglasses; the frame must not cover the eyes or be thick enough to.
  • No hats or headgear; a headscarf is allowed with the face visible from chin to forehead and no shadows on the face.
  • Eyes open and clearly visible, looking directly at the camera, face centred and fully visible including the hairstyle.
  • Natural skin tone, good contrast, sharp, no stains or bends, no red-eye, even lighting without reflections or shadows.
