Clean up a little every day with On This Day

On This Day fills your feed with what you captured on today's date in previous years. It is a small, different batch every day, which makes it the easiest cleanup habit to keep.

How On This Day works

Choose On This Day in the cleaning mode sheet. PrunePic gathers every photo and video you took on today’s date in earlier years and shows them newest first. Tomorrow the feed changes to tomorrow’s date.

Why it works as a habit

Cleaning a whole library is a big job, and big jobs get postponed. On This Day breaks it into a small batch that changes every day. A few minutes each morning adds up to your entire library over a year, one date at a time.

It is also more enjoyable than most cleanup. You see photos you had forgotten, and the ones worth keeping are easy to favorite.

What to look for

Old photos from the same day often include:

  • several near-identical shots of the same scene, where one is enough
  • blurry or dark photos taken in a hurry
  • screenshots and photos of documents that are no longer relevant

Swipe left on those and they wait in the PrunePic Trash until you empty it.

Pair it with Trips & Moments

If today’s date lands on a holiday from a past year, Trips & Moments can take you through the rest of that trip, grouped by place.

Frequently asked questions

Does the iPhone have an On This Day feature?

The Photos app creates Memories and sometimes surfaces photos from the same day in past years, but it does not let you clean them up as you go. PrunePic's On This Day mode shows every photo from today's date so you can keep, favorite or delete each one.

What if I took no photos on this day in past years?

The feed is empty for that day. Try another mode, such as Random, and come back tomorrow.
